The Ladies Auxiliary and the Clayton Fire Company are mourning the passing of Ladies Auxiliary Life Member Florence Timmons.  Florence, 98, passed away on Monday May 20, 2013.  She was a very active member of the Ladies Auxiliary and was always seen helping in the kitchen or doing whatever that was asked of her.  She also worked at several businesses in the area.  Florence is survived by six children; sons Earl, Tommy, Roland, Billy & Paul and daughter Betty Jolly, 27 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren & 12 great great grandchildren.  Roland is the current Chief Engineer and is a Life Member of the Clayton Fire Company; Billy is a Past Chief and Life Member of the Clayton Fire Company.  Florence was preceded in death by her husband Earl Sr., three daughters Mary Phyllis Timmons, Virginia Heverin and Sally Hewes, three sons; Pete Brown, Ralph Timmons, James Timmons, a daughter in law Pat Timmons Rouse, a grandson Brantley Heverin and a granddaughter Dolly Heverin.  The officers & members of the ladies auxiliary and the fire company would like to extend their sympathy to the Timmons family.  

During the May Ladies Auxiliary meeting, President Georgia Davis presented an award to Phyllis Chase in recognition of her time, outstanding effort and the inclination she devotes to the Clayton Ladies Auxiliary.  She is there for our scheduled functions to work and help set up the Dining Room to make it look as attractive as possible for those who will be entering the hall for their special event.  Phyllis also returns in the evening to lend a helping hand to serve and clean up.  She has also served on many committees throughout the years for the betterment of our organization, as well as, held the position of Secretary.  The Clayton Ladies Auxiliary would like to congratulate Phyllis for a job well done.  Keep up the excellent work!!!!

Prior to the April Ladies Auxiliary meeting, the organization and family members paid their respects and honored one of our Charter Members, Julia Mast.  She served the Clayton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in many capacities in her many years associated with this organization.  She helped to organize the Clayton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in March 1959.  She served many officer positions including President from:  1963-1964, 1976-1978, 1985-1988 and 1992.  She also served as President of the DVFALA in 2001.  It was with great pride and pleasure that President Georgia Davis hung Julia's picture in a place of honor in the lobby of the Clayton Fire Hall so that all may enjoy and know the proud manner in which she served us all.

During the April Ladies Auxiliary meeting, President Georgia Davis presented an award to Peggy Ivory in recognition of her time, effort and willingness she dedicates to the Clayton Ladies Auxiliary.  She always makes herself available for our functions and events and she steps in to lend a helping hand wherever and whenever she is needed.  Peggy always arrives early in the morning to get things organized so that when others arrive everything is all set to go.  She has also held the office of Pension Officer for many years and has always done an outstanding job for our organization keeping all records up to date.  The Clayton Ladies Auxiliary would like to congratulate Peggy for a job well done.  Keep up the excellent work!!!!

During the March Ladies Auxiliary meeting, Vice President Tammy Faulkner and the members of the Clayton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary presented a Certificate of Excellence Award to Georgia Davis in recognition of her dedication and loyalty while serving as President of the organization.  Georgia has 45 years of service and she performs many duties behind the scenes to assure the auxiliary runs as smoothly as possible.  Just to mention a few of her tasks - she takes all phone calls for rental of the Clayton Fire Company hall, she meets with all renters to get the appropriate contracts signed, she attends all functions, ladies meetings, board meetings and Kent County Ladies meetings.  She keeps her officers informed, as well as, she includes every member of the auxiliary in decision making.  Georgia tries to promote harmony throughout the organzation and she tries to solve any problems which may arise with tact and consideration.  She does most of the shopping for the ladies, as well as, puts all items away for every function.  Georgia delegates duties within the organization to give all members the opportunity to participate and to voice their opinions and concerns.  She assures each member that they all have something valuable to offer the organization.  She is continuously trying to keep members interested and active, as well as, encourage new members to join our group.  The Clayton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank Georgia for a job well done!  Keep up the outstanding work!!!!

During the March Ladies Auxiliary meeting, President Georgia Davis presented an award to Valarie Mahlbacher in recognition of her time and effort put forth while serving as historian for the Clayton Ladies Auxiliary.  She took on the task to research, seek out and purchase a new camera for our organization.  Valarie has taken many beautiful, candid shots of our Auxiliary serving events, working side by side with the men, or just relaxing and having a fun time.  The Clayton Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank Valarie for keeping our photos current.  Congratulations on a job well done!

During the February Ladies Auxiliary meeting, President Georgia Davis presented an award to Bertha Hudson for her time, effort, willingness and dedication to the Clayton Ladies Auxiliary. She has been a loyal and active member for 39 years. Bertha enjoys working in harmony with her fellow Auxiliary members and makes herself available for our functions and events for the betterment of our organization. She has held several offices and has worked on many committees which she served with great pride and respect. The Clayton Ladies Auxiliary would like to congratulate Bertha for her many years of dedicated service. Keep up the excellent work for many more years to come!

During the January Ladies Auxiliary meeting, President Georgia Davis presented an award to Margo Orlando for her time, effort and exemplary ability to serve as Secretary of the Clayton Ladies Auxiliary.  She has kept up to date and accurate notes on all regular and special meetings.  Margo keeps her book available to anyone that wishes to review notes for any meeting that is held by the organization.  She performs her duties with professionalism and pride for the office that she holds.  The Clayton Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank Margo for her loyalty and dedication to our organization.  Keep up the excellent work!

During the Annual Appreciation Banquet, Ladies Auxiliary President Georgia Davis presented Ruth Lamon with her life membership in the Auxiliary.  Ruth has been a member for many years and left our area for awhile to move to Florida.  She then moved back to Clayton with her husband Walt several years ago.  The officers and members of the Ladies Auxiliary and the company would like to congratulate Ruth on her recognition.

During the annual banquet Ladies Auxiliary President Georgia Davis named Past President Nancy Scotton as the 2012 Ladies Auxiliary Member of the Year.  Nancy was recognized for her many years of continued support and service to the Ladies Auxiliary including serving as chairman of several committees.  The members of the Ladies Auxiliary would like to congratulate Nancy on her well deserved award.  

During the regular monthly meeting in December the company held its joint installation of officers with the ladies. The Ladies Auxiliary Officers for 2013 were installed by Past President Nancy Scotton.  Following the installation, the membership had an enjoyable dinner served by the Ladies Auxiliary.

During the December Ladies Auxiliary meeting, President Georgia Davis presented an award to Christina McKeown for her time and willingness to serve as Publicity Chairperson for the Clayton Ladies Auxiliary.  Christina readily keeps accurate records of all contact persons, so whenever she is called upon to advertise an event or fundraiser for the organization, she is always prepared to do so.  She will call often to double check information and this is always done in a very friendly and positive manner.  The Clayton Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank Christina for her loyalty and dedication to our organization.  Keep up the excellent work!

During the November Ladies Auxiliary meeting, President Georgia Davis presented an award to Mary Kelley for her time, energy and effort by lending a helping hand and also her willingness to support the Clayton Ladies Auxiliary.  Mary served as Treasurer for many years and served the Auxiliary with pride and achievement on a job well done.  She is always available in the morning hours to help prepare for our evening events.  She has also extended herself willingly to take over as our Sick and Sunshine Chairperson.  The Clayton Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank Mary for her loyalty and dedication to our organization.  Keep up the excellent work!

During the October Ladies Auxiliary meeting, President Georgia Davis presented an award to Jeanette Hurlock for her time and effort by lending a helping hand and also her willingness to support the Clayton Ladies Auxiliary.  Jeanette is often called upon during the week to give aid and to assist in the kitchen in the morning hours to begin to prepare for a scheduled function.  She does this without reluctance and extends herself by helping out in the dining room, as well.  The Clayton Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank Jeanette for her loyalty and dedication to our organization.  Keep up the excellent work!

During the September Ladies Auxiliary meeting, President Georgia Davis presented an award to Dot Sappington for her willingness, time, and effort given to review and update the membership forms for the Clayton Ladies
Auxiliary.  This was a job long overdue and the new form is now posted on our Web Site.  Through Dot's hard work we are now hopeful that we will be adding many new members to our organization. The Clayton Ladies Auxiliary congratulates Dot for a job well done.  Keep up the excellent work!
