The construction project is well under way and is expected to be completed before the end of the year. Part of the construction project is a memorial area that will be placed at the site of the current flag pole at the front of the station. The memorial area will be completely re-done from how it is now. It will be lowered to ground level, have a memorial stone dedicated to all our deceased members along with seating and lighting. The current time capsule that is located there will remain and will be untouched. Part of the new memorial will be brick pavers placed around the whole memorial area. PLANS UNDER WAY FOR ADDITION TO CURRENT FIREHOUSE
Friday, June 1, 2012
-
If your wondering what has been happening with the plans to construct a new firehouse.  The Company was unable to secure any grants to construction a completely new fire station so about a year ago the committee decided because of the cost to look at other alternatives.  The Mastens building has been remodeled and the holding company has signed a long term lease with Atlantic tractor to rent all the buildings with the exception of the small storage building in the rear of the property that the company will retain.  The company has began meeting with our architect Fern & Clendaniel on plans to add a new two story wing onto the north side of the existing building and do some minor remodeling.  The cost will obviously determine what we are able to accomplish.  Still in the planning stages the new additional will include much needed office and meeting space including a meeting/training room, a new engine bay, bathrooms, weight room with showers, and a small museum for the hand pumper, storage space off the banquet room for tables & chairs.  Remodeling will address the current engine room floor, adding additional lockers storage where the current line officers room is.  remodeling the bathrooms off the current lobby, constructing a new handicapped ramp into the lobby, and a new look for the exterior of the building.  the committee will continue to meet and are hoping to have a plan to bring before the company by the end of the summer.
